We drive south from Kathmandu to the famous temple of Dakshinkali dedicated to goddess Kali where sacred ritual of animal sacrifice takes place and after ward on the way back visit the lake which is believed to be a remnant pool of the huge lake that once existed where now the city of Kathmandu lies. The lake is a stop over for numerous migratory bird species including cormorants, ruddy shelduck, serpent eagle etc.

We then take a visit to one of the ancient historical city of Kirtipur. Kirtipurs history dates from 1099 AD. In 1767 the battle of Kiritpur occurred, it was then a walled town of 800 houses and part of the kingdom of lalitpur. Kirtipur was annexed to the Gorkhali kingdom on twenty third attempts after entering it by trickery. We explore this old historical town and some of its monastery and temples of the premises and back to Kathmandu.
