Not a long ride but little challenging at we are climbing for almost 1000 meter to the sacred temple of muktinath at the altitude of 3800 meter. We bike mostly uphill following the dusty jeep track and local village to Muktinath. We explore this temple and monasteries of the area and overnight.
Leaving the sacred temple of Muktinath today we enter the restricted region of upper mustang which is also knows as hidden treasure of Nepal and once was a separate kingdom.
The trail climbs with 80% riding up to the pass of Guy la pass of 4077 meter with panoramic views of snow capped mountain and follow the rolling ridge trail down to Tetang and more than thousand meter descent on suburb single track and continue down to Chhusang. From here we climb a bit and cross the river to reach our overnight place at Chele.
Today is not a long day but still a hard day of mixed biking on jeep track, single track , up hill, steep down hill and some section of carrying and pushing. Today we have to cross over passes of Dajola (3735 m), Bhena la (3830m) and Beg la 3840 meter before we stop our day for today at syanboche.
The day begins with a short climb to syanboche la pass of 3850 meter and follow the rolling jeep track through open valley and fields to Ghiling and ascend up to the pass of Nyi la 4010 meter with the mountain view of Annapurna and Nilgiri. Enjoy some section of single downhill tack and again follow the jeep track to the village of Charang where we explore 400 year old Gulpa sect monastery.
Enjoy the open and easy jeep track. We have pass of lo la 3950 meter before we reach the walled city of Lo manthang. We will get clear view of the beautiful wall city of lo manthang from the pass which used to be a separate kingdom. We explore the Royal palace and monasteries around.
Following the Kaligandaki river upward we take side trip to Garphu to explore the old monasteries and cave of this remote area. The beautiful scenery and isolated area with Tibetan culture is worth experiencing. On the way back we can take single track through villages back to Lo manthang.
We have some challenging climb waiting for us to cross two passes over 4000 meter which will be rewarded by some excellent down hill and single track. The scenery is absolutely beautiful and we also come by the longest mani wall in mustang before stopping at Ghami for overnight.
Retracing our way we climb over Nyla pass of 4010 meter and drop down to Syanboche. From here we head toward Ranchung cave along some pretty stunning single track which will be followed by some hour of pushing and carry before single track down hill to Samar.
Retrace our way back to chhusang crossing over two passes over 3500 meter and follow jeep track back to Jomsom and relax.
Early morning we take a short but amazing flight with spectacular view of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri range back to Pokhara. Check in to hotel and relax
Explore pokhara in the morning and take half an hour flight back to Kathmandu in the afternoon and transfer to hotel.
